The character of Nigel Pluckrose was named after the very first friend that I ever made, while living in Southwater, Sussex, England.

Nigel Pluckrose is ADD & ADHD in a rural community of Southern England called Southwater. Legally blind in one eye, very intelligent, very creative and bored, he gets labeled as a "Spaz".

His parents have a difficult time keeping an eye on him and have moved into an old hunting lodge, located on the edge of a forest. Here, Nigel is given the freedom to roam as he pleases. It is here in the forest that Nigel starts his journey of change.

His pets are unusual as the reader discovers, his mother invites other children to play, but something always seems to happen, with Nigel taking the blame, though he doesn't need the help to end up in trouble.

Everybody has known a Nigel Pluckrose in their life, or can relate to being/making the mistakes of Nigel. His adventures have moved people from laughter to tears. Before you know it, you start rooting for him. Then, you realize that he is not broken after all.
